Civil Disobedience

Image
In 1891, Irish author Oscar Wilde observed, “Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man’s original virtue. It is through disobedience that progress has been made, through disobedience and rebellion.” Wilde claims that disobedience is a valuable human trait and that it promotes social progress. Throughout this whole week, we read many pieces on Civil disobedience. Though the context in which the articles were focused was different, the main idea was the same. For example, in Woman Warrior, the focus is on Fa Mu Lan, who disobeyed many rules. Though she didn't necessarily break any rules, she disobeyed many cultural norms, by making everyone think she was a man. In the essay written by Henry David Thoreau, the main focus is disobeying laws. Thoreau wants everyone to follow their morals, even if that means breaking unjust laws. He believes that one individual can change society, even if they are going to go through a lot, it is all worth it in the end. But,

Is School Really That Bad?

Image
(In the tone of David Foster Wallace) People who are not yet in high school or those who have been here a really long time ago do not know what it's like. By way of example, let's say it's an average weekday, and you get up early in the morning, go to your bus stop, wait for the bus for a good ten minutes, even when it's freezing outside, and the bus driver finally shows up, and then you wait in the bus for another twenty minutes to get to school, and after you've finally arrived, you walk through the never-ending hallway to get to your class and realize that you're late, and you get a tardy. It's 7: 20 in the morning, and you feel like you're about to fall asleep, but the teacher keeps going on and on about the big test you're about to take in a few minutes, so you at least try to listen to her; After taking the painfully long test, which you're sure you did bad on, you have to get to your second hour, and the hallways are even more crowded tha

Chandrayaan - 3 Monument

Image
Last week, we had to pick one of the Top  Ten Events from the poster and create an imaginary monument that represented it. Our group chose the Chandrayaan-3 landing. I decided to write about the monument that we came up with. Background information: Chandrayaan 3  is the third mission in the Chandrayaan program, a series of lunar exploration missions developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Chandrayaan-3 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on 14 July 2023. The spacecraft entered lunar orbit on 5 August, and the lander touched down near the lunar south polar region on 23 August at 12:33 UTC, making India the fourth country to successfully land on the Moon, and the first to do so near the region of the lunar south pole. Firstly, t he monument should preferably be built in India.   The design consists of a replica of the model of Chandrayaan-3 in the center, and a room detailing the whole process from building to landing of Chandrayaan 3 .  Two small models
