Photography

Can you imagine a world without pictures? There would be no camera rolls, no movies, no social media, and so much more. Life wouldn't be the same. Photographs have become such a big part of our lives that we cannot imagine living without them. They allow us to capture memories that we don't want to forget. They illuminate issues like war, migration, art, and fashion. They raise awareness about important issues and inspiring action. Why would photography ever limit our understanding of the world? If anything, it provides glimpses into the past and preserves culture. Photographs freeze a memory so that we can always go back and relive the moment. Pictures usually are not something that need an explanation; sometimes even the photographer doesn't know what the reason behind taking a picture is. We can interpret what we want to by looking at a picture. They don't always need to mean something specific. It's not that the purpose of photographs is to enhance experience or to have reality confirmed, it is to commit an experience to memory and to tell a story. Nowadays, pictures have also become a common way to communicate and share our experiences. It is a language that can be used to let people know what's going on in our lives. Without photography, we wouldn't be where we are right now. Photography doesn't limit our understanding of the world, it improves it.

  1. I like your use of a question and hypothetical scenario to start, it really shows the impact photography has on our world.

  2. I like how you defended photography instead of shaming it, by highlighting its pros. I also like how you said that photography is a language to let people know whats going on in our lives, and since it can share things without even a word, it is a language in its own way.
